Zoom, Mitel Roll Out AI-Driven UC Platform To Elevate Collaboration

Why hybrid UC matters: Zoom and Mitel unite Zoom Workplace, AI Companion and Mitel telephony in a hybrid cloud platform, now on UC Today.

Zoom and Mitel AI-driven UC platform

Zoom and Mitel are rolling out their shared AI-powered UC and collaboration platform.

Building on their partnership announced last autumn, Zoom and Mitel expanded their collaboration with a hybrid cloud solution that integrates Zoom Workplace and Zoom AI Companion with Mitel’s flagship comms platforms, including its telephony solutions. This joint offering merges Mitel’s robust telephony capabilities with Zoom’s modern collaboration toolsets, providing businesses with a seamless and flexible communications experience.

"As businesses navigate the connectivity requirements to support hybrid work, they need solutions that unite the benefits of on-prem or single-instance cloud communications infrastructure with Zoom’s industry-leading collaboration experiences, giving them the best of both while future-proofing their organisations," said Graeme Geddes, Chief Sales and Growth Officer at Zoom.

The AI-first solution provided by Zoom and Mitel makes connecting and collaborating seamless and efficient while giving customers the flexibility to migrate to the cloud on their own terms and with their existing Mitel devices."

Zoom and Mitel stress that this new solution aspires to address the growing enterprise demand for hybrid UC deployments by delivering a best-of-both-worlds approach.

"Mitel’s strategic partnership with Zoom has produced an offering that provides seamless access to these solutions while enabling compliance and security control in the most demanding use cases, industries, and geographies," added David Petts, Chief Sales Officer at Mitel. "With the integration of Zoom’s AI Companion, it’s a winning combination for organisations looking for an elevated collaboration experience that truly fits their overall communication needs.”

Zoom and Mitel's shared solution is now available to customers everywhere.

More Specifics on the Shared Solution

The Zoom Workplace app, fully integrated with secure Mitel telephony and devices, allows users to call, meet, and chat from a single platform. They can also escalate Mitel-powered calls directly into Zoom meetings.

Zoom and Mitel assert that users can brainstorm, create, and plan with tools like Zoom Docs, Zoom Whiteboard, and Zoom Clips. The AI Companion is embedded throughout the experience, helping users jumpstart content creation, stay focused, prioritise tasks, and find answers quickly, ensuring greater productivity and efficiency.

The joint hybrid solution aims to ensure complete control over telephony, updates, and configurations while integrating with existing systems. Industries like healthcare, hospitality, government, and finance can maintain Mitel-certified integrations, specialised devices, and workflows for frontline workers—ensuring seamless operations without disruption.

Zoom and Mitel's hybrid architecture is pitched as offering a seamless way for organisations to integrate on-prem infrastructure with the precise balance of private and public cloud to suit their specific needs. Zoom and Mitel suggest this approach provides the flexibility, tools, and resilience required to future-proof existing systems while ensuring uninterrupted reliability.

With the Zoom Workplace app, both companies say users benefit from a consistent, modern experience throughout the transition. Additionally, for organisations considering a full UCaaS deployment, the solution intends to allow them to seamlessly bring their certified Mitel devices, which should ensure a smooth migration without disruption.

The Full List Of Zoom and Mitel Integrations And Certifications

The shared solution will be rolled out in phases, and Zoom's platform will integrate seamlessly with existing Mitel software and devices, starting with global availability for Mitel’s OpenScape Voice and OpenScape 4000 platforms.

In the coming weeks, Zoom and Mitel have said that support will expand to include MiVoice Business, followed by MiVoice 5000 and MX-ONE before the end of 2025. Additionally, key device portfolios, including the OpenScape CP and Mitel 6900 Series, are now Zoom Phone certified.

Certification of Mitel’s OpenScape SBC has also been completed, ensuring compatibility with Zoom’s Bring-Your-Own-PBX (BYOP) and Bring-Your-Own-Carrier (BYOC) direct routing capabilities. Certification for the Mitel Border Gateway (MBG) is expected in the coming weeks, further strengthening integration options.
