This month, Zoom announced its new Workplace for Frontline Workers offering, intending to herald a new era of on-shift communications and work management.
Zoom Workplace for Frontline Workers is pitched as a dedicated mobile-first platform aimed at empowering frontline teams and their managers with intelligent collaboration tools. Built for users with paid Zoom accounts, this new solution extends the capabilities of Zoom AI Companion to frontline roles, offering them tailored support wherever work happens.
Specifically engineered to enhance comms and task coordination during shifts, Zoom Workplace for Frontline aspires to enable essential workers, from healthcare professionals and emergency responders to retail staff and manufacturing crews, to work more efficiently, deliver higher-quality outcomes, and build stronger connections across their teams and organisations.
Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer at Zoom, commented:
Our mission of delivering an AI-first open work platform isn’t just limited to knowledge workers; we’re also thinking about how we can address the needs of frontline workers, who represent over 80 percent of the global workforce. Zoom Workplace for Frontline empowers frontline workers to stay connected, access critical information on the go, and streamline daily tasks – ultimately fostering a more engaged, productive, and connected workforce."
So what does the new solution offer in detail?
What is Zoom Workplace for Frontline Workers' Feature Set?
Zoom Workplace for Frontline presents a focused set of mobile-first tools geared around keeping frontline teams connected, informed and productive. Tailored for fast-moving industries like healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and emergency services, the platform aims to simplify shift-based comms and task management.
To support on-shift communications, Zoom’s real-time activity feed within the mobile app surfaces essential updates, resources, and tasks. This aims to help workers get up to speed quickly. Auto-generated chat groups automatically connect shift teams, clearly distinguishing between on-floor staff and managers. This removes the need to manually produce chats for each shift and ensures the right people are always looped in.
Meanwhile, push-to-talk functionality opens up capacity for instant voice communication at the tap of a button, streamlining real-time coordination.
In the work management side of things, Zoom Workplace for Frontline includes mobile shift swapping so employees can request and manage schedule changes without admin friction.
Task management, powered by Zoom Tasks, gives teams a centralised view of assignments and progress, elevating efficiency and accountability. Lastly, shift summaries grant a snapshot of key conversations, outstanding tasks, and attendance updates. In turn, this offers incoming teams and managers a clear view of what’s been done and what’s still needed.
