Otter.ai has launched a generative AI-powered app for Slack that offers services like transcription and meeting insights.
With the integration of Otter and Slack, users can seamlessly bring together voice and text communication, facilitating improved collaboration and productivity.
The central feature of the integration is Otter's AI-driven meeting assistant, which it says is capable of transcribing over one million spoken words per minute. Now, with the connection to Slack, Otter users have the capability to automatically share meeting insights within their Slack channels.
Sam Liang, Co-Founder and CEO of Otter.ai, emphasised the integration's significance: “For too long, there have been two separate modes of communication at work - using text via Slack and email and using voice in meetings via conference rooms or virtual conferencing tools like Zoom.
“Otter for Slack is the first step in unifying voice and text communication between meetings and Slack - providing conversation continuity among team members.”
Otter picked out five key use cases for the new application:
Before the Meeting: Otter ensures that team members are well-prepared by sending meeting reminders via Slack, allowing even late attendees to follow the proceedings in real time.
During the Meeting: Otter's AI instantly generates real-time notes and captures presentation slides during the meeting, providing comprehensive context for discussions.
Post-Meeting Collaboration: Otter enables teammates to highlight key takeaways and assign action items within the notes, fostering engagement and accountability.
Action Item Management: Otter streamlines task delegation by automatically sending assigned action items to the concerned team members through Slack, complete with relevant context.
