The start of the new year brings new sales avenues for NFON UK’s channel partners. While the private sector has long been an obvious target market for channel partners selling NFON’s cloud telephony services, the public sector is also an option worth exploring as government offices look for technologies that will help them work more efficiently towards their mission goals.

Unsurprisingly, the private sector is not the only one seeking out solutions that will allow them to communicate across their organisations and run their operations more effectively. The Government Property Agency (GPA) is one of these offices, which itself has stipulated that they intend to reach 100% Smarter Working adoption by the end of 2022.
As a part of their roadmap, they are seeking out cloud-based telephony and Unified Communications that will improve their agency’s ability to manage estates under their control.
Speaking with Head of Public Sector at NFON, Scott Somenthal, he tells UC Today that, “We're seeing a huge move towards Cloud Telephony and UC Services as well as the complementary services such as Cloud Contact Centre, Cloud Call Recording and Reporting. The outbreak of the pandemic has highlighted to many public sector organisations that their on-premises communications solutions were not fit for purpose to enable a Smarter Working environment, which can really only be delivered via a Cloud-based Solution such as NFON’s Cloud Telephony Solution, Cloudya.”
He adds that:
“There has been a huge uplift in Microsoft Teams and Cloud Video solutions such as Zoom since the pandemic as Public Sector organisations push to deliver a Smarter Working solution to achieve their objectives”
Underwriting these significant IT transformation goals for the GPA and many other offices are expansive budgets at their disposal to acquire the necessary tools to do the job.
A report for 2019 highlighted the public sector as the largest spender on IT and Telecoms, with the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) transacting some £15.7Bn. This was a reported increase of 2.7Bn from the previous year.
