Vonage has launched the ‘Vonage Protection Suite’ to provide end-to-end communications security solutions.
The new security bundle protects against both fraud and cyberattacks, as well as gives developers and organisations greater control over their communications management.
Describing itself as a “global leader in cloud communications”, Vonage’s security suite includes Vonage Fraud Defender, Vonage Verify API, and Vonage Number Insight.
Savinay Berry, EVP, Product & Engineering for Vonage, said: “In an increasingly digital world, our customers’ security needs continue to evolve.
“To meet this growing demand for better protection from fraudulent events, businesses today must shield themselves and their customers with agile security solutions that can be seamlessly integrated with their existing communications solutions and platforms.
“The Vonage Protection Suite is a comprehensive set of tools that enables end-to-end safeguards, leveraging the power of communication API building blocks to address security, authentication, and identification processes.”
Inside the Vonage Protection Suite
All solutions within the suite were built using Vonage’s APIs, including the Vonage Fraud Defender, which is easy to implement, alerts users to fraud, and blocks fraud attempts.
It also relays risk and ongoing attack information via a dashboard and offers customisation options for automated actions with proactive blocking and suspicious traffic notifications.
The Vonage Verify API has been updated to include omnichannel two-factor authentication (2FA), allowing businesses access to 2FA over multiple communications channels, plus customisable automatic channel failover.
As well as voice and SMS, users can be authenticated via email and WhatsApp, and a range of languages are supported.
The API also defends against toll fraud, in which criminals access phone systems to initiate high-volume calls to premium rate numbers.
In 2021, a report by the Communications Fraud Control Association (CFCA) found that toll fraud was the number one form of telecoms fraud, accounting for $6.69 billion in losses.
Vonage Number Insight has been added to the suite, along with new features, such as access to fraud assessment data for global phone numbers.
