Zoom Phone brings multinational corporations (MNCs) and local Indian companies ‘unrivalled simplicity’ and the latest technology, according to the video conferencing platform.
Beginning with the availability of the service combining India phone numbers in the Maharashtra Telecom Circle, native phone number support will then be added to the country’s key technology centres in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, and Delhi.
Velchamy Sankarlingam, President of Product and Engineering at Zoom, commented on the introduction of Zoom Phone in India: “Zoom’s cloud PBX service meets the requirements of India’s Unified Telecom license which requires building the dedicated local interconnection infrastructure in accordance with the regulatory requirements.
“This demonstrates Zoom’s commitment to bringing a trusted service that our customers want.
“Globally, Zoom Phone saw continued expansion in the market, amassing five Zoom Phone customers with 100k+ seats in Q1 FY25, demonstrating our customers’ trust in Zoom for critical employee and customer experience processes.
Sankarlingam continued:
Our latest offering reaffirms Zoom’s leadership in delivering seamless cloud services on a global scale, enhanced by local investments to help ensure compliance and service excellence in every market, including India.
Zoom in India
In April 2023, the Indian government granted Pan India Unified Licenses to Zoom. Since this time, Zoom India has been determined to setup a dedicated domestic infrastructure to enable Zoom Phone, while complying with the necessary regulatory requirements.
As a result, Zoom was able to launch the ‘first-of-its-kind’ licensed cloud PBX service with local Indian phone numbers.
Zoom Phone delivers secure, flexible, and reliable communication features that connect with Zoom Workplace and Zoom AI Companion.
