Zoom Dishes Out More Cash From App Fund

Zoom expands its Apps Fund to 25 companies, backing Allo, Avoma and more as buyers weigh new collaboration, AI and CRM tools on UC Today.

Zoom has named an additional 13 companies that will receive a share of its $100m Zoom Apps Fund, which backs companies building solutions around its meetings platform.

This brings the total number of companies backed by the fund to 25, after 12 were announced this August.

“The Zoom developer ecosystem continues to be critical for innovating how Zoom users connect, collaborate and get more done together,”

said Colin Born, Head of Zoom Ventures. “We’re extremely proud to fund these partners so they can continue to develop high-quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of Zoom users around the world.”

Among those companies receiving funds are Allo, a collaborative whiteboard app built for remote and hybrid teams, enabling colleagues to be “engaged and aligned as if they were in the same meeting room”, says the developer.

In addition, Funomena makes games for emerging platforms, with a recent focus on fashion, dance, music and collaborative play.

There is also Moxie, which powers hybrid fitness, enabling consumers to work out with coaches virtually and in person.

And Avoma is an AI meeting assistant that automates important tasks throughout a meeting's lifecycle, like preparing agendas, transcribing and summarising notes, updating the CRM, and providing coaching insights.

Second Nature helps teams increase sales productivity, making sure all reps are sales-ready through practice, feedback and certification linked to any sales conversation, using Jenny, the AI coach.

This July, Zoom said it had embedded third-party apps within the Zoom Meetings and desktop client experience with Zoom Apps, while also introducing an all-in-one platform for creating interactive and immersive virtual events.

Zoom Apps allow users to access their favourite applications from directly within Zoom Meetings and the desktop client experience, unlocking more tools for collaboration, productivity and entertainment.
