For media and entertainment companies like EA (Electronic Arts), few things are more important than empowering team members to do their best, most creative work in any environment. EA is a world-leading brand in digital entertainment, games, and online services for consoles, PCs, and mobile devices. The organisation has offices all over the world.
The Benelux office for EA, located near Amsterdam, is responsible for overseeing game distribution and retail relations, with a small team working in an open-plan layout. Unfortunately, even before the pandemic, team members often struggled with maintaining focus in this environment.
When the hybrid and remote working landscapes began to explode, the EA teams also needed a reliable way to block out distractions, while still ensuring excellent communication with their team members and contacts.
Let’s look at how Logitech helped EA to improve its UC strategy.
Balancing Communication and Focus in the Office
All companies rely on good communication to ensure success. Teams need to be able to share ideas quickly and conveniently, particularly in the Media and Entertainment landscape, where creativity and agility are key. Unfortunately, the Benelux office for EA was experiencing some issues with keeping teams on the right track, even before the pandemic.
Employees in this office were spread across two office spaces, with an open-plan design. The colleagues in this space would often accidentally disturbing each other, speaking too loudly in crucial meetings, or making it difficult for teams to concentrate. While staff had the option to retreat to smaller spaces for focus, they didn’t have the luxury of their PC and screens in these areas.
To resolve the issue, Electronic Arts decided to invest in a new selection of hardware endpoints to enable and empower their teams. The Logitech Zone wireless headset was specifically designed for open-plan workspaces, making it an ideal choice for the Benelux space.
The Zone Wireless headset featured a noise-cancelling microphone. This noise-cancelling microphone meant that nearby colleagues, children, pets and other ambient noises wouldn’t be picked up during a conversation. This allowed employees in the EA environment to preserve a professional image during audio conversations.
At the same time, the active noise cancelling audio allowed business users to shut out ambient noise in the office, or at home, allowing users to focus more completely on what was being said within their calls. The combination of active noise cancelling features meant users in an open-plan office could improve their virtual meetings.
Empowering All Kinds of Workplaces
While initially, the decision to implement Logitech hardware into the workflow of employees in the EA Benelux environment was made to address the challenges of an open-plan office, it remained relevant during the pandemic. As EA employees began switching to more remote and hybrid workplaces due to office shut-downs, the Logitech headsets they used became crucial partners for their days in the home office.
According to EA, many of their employees are now using Logitech headsets in their home office, because it helps to ensure a high level of comfort and focus. With the Zone Wireless headset, employees can preserve high levels of concentration, even if they’re working in an environment surrounded by pets and other family members.
