In the cloud-connected world, companies of all sizes and backgrounds are looking for more flexible ways to build out their communication stack. Today’s businesses don’t want to be stuck with the same one-size-fits-all portfolio anymore. Every company is looking for diversity and opportunities for growth. As a result, the demand for “BYOC” (Bring Your Own Carrier) connections is trending.
BYOC solutions ensure that companies can design the communication stack that works for them. Zoom Video Communications, one of the market leaders in collaboration and video conferencing today, recently announced a new strategy for BYOC for its Zoom Phone customers. The solution allows market-leading providers like Voxbone to step in and offer businesses the coverage they need while ensuring that they can access their favourite Zoom technology.
Voxbone is one of the recommended BYOC providers in the new Zoom Phone initiative, giving organisations access to best-in-breed compliant and global coverage. Voxbone is taking Zoom’s cloud calling platform to over 65+ high-value markets across the globe. We caught up with Mehmet Hussein, the Senior Solutions Architect of Voxbone, to find out more.

According to Mehmet, Voxbone was interested in the Zoom Phone solution because they saw people showing an organic interest in BYOC, even before they started marketing or promoting the concept. Zoom has been growing at an astronomical pace lately, and businesses are looking for ways to combine their collaborative offerings with the communication stack that they rely on each day.
Zoom and Voxbone have been working together closely for several years now (since 2013), making the decision to work together in a BYOC capacity an easy one. Voxbone offers Zoom dial-in services across 50 markets and Zoom chose Voxbone as one of its leading cloud communication providers for the BYOC service because of Voxbone’s excellent service solution.
“The customer goes to Zoom looking for a Zoom Phone solution and tells the company that they want to bring their own carrier into the mix. From there, Zoom recommends using a calling solution such as Voxbone, for global reach and performance"
How Does Voxbone Simplify BYOC?
Voxbone is one of the leaders in the communication market because of its ability to offer flexibility, scalability and growth to its customers. While people have always been able to take carrier services and plug them into something else, the process has often been very difficult and expensive. Now that we’re living in a world of CPaaS, it’s much easier to plug new technology into things.
“We can offer people this BYOC solution for Zoom, and then work with them to look at other communication stack needs and the hidden carriers that they have in their environment. If the company is working with numerous carriers for their communication stack, we can help them to figure out how to consolidate those carriers into something that’s easier to manage.”
According to Mehmet, the communication stack today is built out of three distinct layers. There’s the bottom network layer, which is what Voxbone offers, then the central logic layer in the middle where CPaaS and other solutions are present. Finally, at the top, companies have their surface layer that end-users can interact with.
