Our usual expert guest and Microsoft MVP Tom Arbuthnot, from Modality Systems, joins Patrick to review all of the Microsoft Teams news from the past few weeks.
Firstly Patrick talks to Tom about the news that Tom's company, Microsoft communication specialists, Modality Systems were acquired at the start of last month by GCI. Tom tells Patrick that the move makes a lot of sense as there were huge synergies between the two organisations.
Next Patrick and Tom move onto review Comms VNEXT which Tom attended in Denver last month. The user conference focusing on all things Microsoft UC was a great event and Tom explains what he was getting up to on stage there.
Now the team move onto the main news from the last few weeks. Arguably the biggest talking point is the news that has emerged that Microsoft Teams will eventually replicate functionality from, and then replace, Kaizala. Kaizala was developed by Microsoft India as a mobile phone number based chat application and had become extremely popular in some Asian territories. Tom explains that over the next 12-18 months Teams will take up some of Kaizala's unique features and then eventually replace the application altogether.
Tom then takes Patrick through the latest news relating to MS Teams. Teams will now be installed into existing Office 365 Pro Plus tenancies which will save time for administrators who want to look at rolling out the software. Tom does explain that this is still an optional process and customers can choose for this not to occur.
