Our usual expert guest and Microsoft MVP Tom Arbuthnot, from Modality Systems, joins Patrick to review all of the Microsoft Teams news that has emerged at Ignite 2019, Microsoft's annual partner conference.
Tom is on site at Ignite, in the podcast booth, for this recording. Patrick asks Tom to take him through all of the main headlines for the week. As usual there have been loads of Microsoft Team's news announcements during this year's conference.
The latest news has been the creation of a new Office 365 package which specifically targets the small to medium business market. Microsoft Business Voice 365 - available for organisations with less than 300 users - consolidates communication features making Teams a more applicable option for a businesses collaboration and communication needs. Tom tells Patrick why this new package could prove to be extremely disruptive in the market.
Microsoft has announced that it will be working more closely with Cisco to offer more unified communication between Cisco hardware and Microsoft Teams. Cisco will be making a Microsoft third-party certified offering available. This will allow Webex Room devices and SIP video conferencing devices to join Microsoft Teams meetings. All of this is deigned to simplify the user experience for those utilising Cisco Webex Teams and Microsoft Teams. As well as this integration with Cisco tech, Microsoft, have also revealed that Microsoft Teams will support Zoom Meetings as well.
The Microsoft Team's meeting experience is being enhanced with a number of new features announced as live or as part of the future update road map. Tom takes Patrick through the details of seven new features that have been on show during Ignite. More details and demonstrations took place on site of the captioning and transcription services that will be available within meetings as well as more integrations with the task manager within Teams.
