Microsoft Teams and 365 apps are coming to Apple's Vision Pro spatial computing service.
As well as central Teams capabilities such as video conferencing, file sharing and chat, Teams utilises the advanced features of Apple Vision Pro to enhance user experiences on video calls, including Personas, infinite canvas for collaboration, and interactive chats powered by emojis and reactions.
Lori Craw, Director of Marketing for Modern Work at Microsoft, wrote in an accompanying blog post:
With the Microsoft Teams app on Apple Vision Pro, you can use all your communication and collaboration capabilities of Microsoft Teams. Meet, chat, call, collaborate, and engage with your business processes – be a part of all Teams has to offer in the smart place to connect, communicate, and work together."
Users can download Teams from the App Store on Apple Vision Pro beginning Friday, February 2.
Teams on Vision Pro
When users wearing Apple Vision Pro join a Teams call, they appear as a Persona — a digital representation reflecting their face and hand movements in real-time. This innovative integration aims to elevate virtual communication and collaboration experiences by providing dynamic visual representations more concisely.
Because users often need multiple Teams windows open at the same time, Teams on Apple Vision Pro leverages an infinite canvas, enabling users to open apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, scale them freely, and position them for seamless content access in meetings and chats. The platform also supports straightforward collaboration with 3D content, allowing users to share and preview such content in Teams chats and channels.
Teams chat are also enlivened by the introduction of reactions and together emojis, which Craw described as having "a greater sense of depth and dimension, which help make your chat interactions more expressive and meaningful".
Teams also ensures a smooth transition of meetings and calls across devices, allowing users to switch seamlessly without disrupting the meeting flow. With a button press tap, users can transfer their Teams meeting from desktop or mobile to Apple Vision Pro, or vice versa, maintaining continuity and flexibility in their communication experience.
365 on Vision Pro
As well as Teams, users can download Microsoft Copilot, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Loop from the App Store on Apple Vision Pro.
Users can leverage PowerPoint to create impactful presentations that set them apart. The Immersive Environment on Apple Vision Pro allows users to rehearse a presentation as if addressing an audience, enhancing their preparation for a lasting impression.
With Excel, Apple Vision Pro's infinite canvas offers a more productive workspace. Users can graph complex formulas, charts, and tables, utilising the synergy between Excel and Apple Vision Pro to analyse, manipulate, and visualise data. This allows users to break free from display limitations by transferring graphs and charts to other documents or Teams chats, unlocking new possibilities for data interaction.
