Cisco has announced that a swathe of AI Assistant features are now generally available for Webex Suite and Contact Center customers.
Revealed at this week's Cisco Live event in Amsterdam, the features include automatic meeting and vidcast summaries and automatic translation. These capabilities were previously exclusive to Cisco employees or selected organisations but are now available to all Webex Suite and Contact Center customers.
Javed Khan, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cisco Collaboration, wrote in an accompanying blog post:
If 2023 was the year of promises, then 2024 will be the year of delivering. And that’s precisely what we are doing at Webex. Today, we are excited to announce Beta and General Availability for some of the most anticipated features announced at WebexOne."
Cisco also revealed an intriguing sustainability tool for organisations — Low Carbon Mode. Control Hub's Low Carbon Mode provides location-based insights to manage energy consumption when low-carbon energy is unavailable. Admins and users can optimise energy usage until a renewable source is accessible, making adjustments like deferring non-critical updates and optimising video based on the availability of low-carbon electricity in the region.
More Detail On The New Features
For the Webex Suite, Automatic Summaries for Meetings and Vidcasts are now available for all customers. These functionalities can enhance productivity, offering users the convenience of catching up on missed meetings or video messages and saving them valuable time.
Later this quarter, the Webex Suite will add enhancements that allow users to rephrase messages, change tone, and automatically translate messages, all within the app. Vidcast, the video messaging platform, is also now seamlessly integrated into the Webex app for a more unified experience.
HD Voice, first unveiled at Webex One last year, will be available in March for all Webex Calling and Webex Suite customers. It is an AI-driven technology that enhances audio quality by eliminating background noises and converting narrowband audio to wideband. This improvement improves speech intelligibility during calls over PSTN.
A compelling new update for Webex Contact Center Enterprise customers is that WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are now available as communication channels.
