This week saw Zoom settle a privacy lawsuit for $85m, RingCentral ring in another successful quarter with sales hitting $379m, and the completion of Nasstar’s acquisition of KCOM’s ICT business.
Zoom Pays Out $85m Settlement
The video conferencing vendor agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit for $85m and to improve its security. Zoom was accused of sharing personal data with third parties such as Facebook, Linked In, and Google, as well as letting hackers ‘zoombomb’ meetings. The company denied any wrongdoing.priva
In a statement, Zoom said: “The privacy and security of our users are top priorities for Zoom, and we take seriously the trust our users place in us.”
RingCentral Celebrates Revenue Haul
The cloud comms and collaboration vendor celebrated a 36 percent rise in revenue for its Q2, seeing revenues increase to $379m.

COO Anand Eswaran also spoke with investors on the call about the recently announced agreement to acquire Five9 and capitalising on the opportunity around Microsoft Teams:

BT Partners with Microsoft in Voice Deal
Microsoft and BT have agreed a deal that will see the latter move its Global managed voice services to Microsoft’s cloud.
Omar Abbosh, Corporate Vice President of Industry Solutions at Microsoft, stated: “By transitioning global managed voice services to the cloud, BT can use Microsoft’s cutting-edge tools to develop new communications services that meet the needs and demands of today’s customers.

Cisco Introduces Asynchronous Video App
The vendor has launched a new video solution as part of its new Webex Leap acceleration programme.
