Zoom has confirmed that its native enterprise content delivery network solution (eCDN) is now generally available.
Titled Zoom Mesh, the solution is designed to help IT administrators optimise network bandwidth for their organisations when they are using Zoom Webinars or Zoom Events.
Zoom Mesh is a peer-to-peer offering that does not need any additional component to be deployed, and instead is built into every Zoom client. IT administrators can launch it in minutes from the Zoom Web portal.
As it is a native solution, all the hosts, panelists and attendees of the event or webinar will get all the native features of the product.
Robin Bunevich, Product Marketer at Zoom, commented: "What's special about Zoom Mesh is that it is a native solution, so you don't have to pay for a third-party eCDN.
"Secondly, it is easy to enable, so you don't have to install any hardware or software in your data centers, and it is fully integrated into Zoom clients, cloud and web portal.
"A lot of major companies are setting January as the time that people need to come back to the office, so with so many people coming back to one location, organisations are bound to experience internet bandwidth constraints as they continue to host webinars and events.
"We've heard from a lot of customers who asked us to build this because they want to continue using our Webinar and Events products, and they want to maintain that end-user experience."
Due to Zoom Mesh being a native solution, users will have access to all features such as Q&A, polling quizzes, chat, reactions and more that they are accustomed to when using Zoom Events.
Zoom also states that its Mesh allows organisations to reduce or eliminate reliance on the third-party eCDN solutions, providing significant cost savings and reducing complexity of their IT environment .
